Our trip to Texas was amazing.
Our first stop was to MD Anderson, in Houston for my mom's 6-month checkup & the good Lord continued to lay His hand on our family - we received an "all clear" from the doctors!
we packed our bags, loaded up the rental and started jammin' out on our way to Waco, Texas to finally see the Silos and Magnolia Market in person! For those of you who don't know what I'm referring to, go check out Chip & JoJo (you will not be sorry)
Before heading straight there, we arrived at our first destination (a complete surprise to our mom), The Cotton Palace B&B in Waco! If you're ever in the area or make the same trip, do yourself a favor and stay here! It is amazing.
Every part of this amazing, Arts and Crafts style home was beautiful and thoroughly designed.
Our room was "Matt's Attic" all the way on the third floor, but we had the whole level to ourselves! Each morning, we were greeted with smiling faces and a delicious, home-cooked meal! "Dutch", a 92-year old, "waitor-in-training", he called himself, would serve us with such intention and love. Taking care of our every needs from coffee, juices, main courses, & constant entertainment and conversation. We learned so much from him about the town, Baylor, his life & the history of Waco.
.. and with full bellies, we were off to the Market!
every detail was so personalized & thought-out.
when we pulled up, the first thing my sister and I noticed was the music coming from the speakers outside on the lawn (they also kept the same music playing inside as well). Joanna and Chip's taste in music was the exact same as ours. It sounded as if it were our iPods on shuffle!
(needtobreathe, ellie holcomb, hillsong, ben rector, ... shall I continue?)
the market was fabulous! flowers were everywhere, pottery was gorgeous, accents were throughout, even the bathroom floors were amazing (tile shown in pic). I'm telling you, every last detail was thought of in the design of this space and product!
Right outside, were the Silos! Accompanied by a lush lawn for families to play games (corn hole, dodgeball, baseball, football, jump rope.. anything you could think of, they had it), picnic tables for eating & food trucks (all kinds!)
they even have their own little garden & shop (opening soon!)
one of our favorite parts about the experience, was sitting on the lawn (or actually right outside one of the food trucks on the wooden stairs & just watching all the kids play, taking in the atmosphere and listening "our" music!)
Our next stop was Clint's shop, from Fixer upper! Harp Design!
this was such a cool space and great representation of all of their work and talents! Another stop you have to go if you ever find yourself in WAco!
one of our final stops (mom's request), was the Dr. pepper plant! I did not realize dr. pepper was founded and created in waco, texas!
between all of the good food, local spots, Magnolia market & silos, and our quaint little bed and breakfast, our experience was beyond what we could have dreamed! I hope you and yours have the chance to check out such a beautiful and historic town!
thanks for coming along with us on this 'tour of texas'
Cheers! (with dr. pepper, of course).
