How in the WORLD has it been over 6 months since we have last blogged?! This is way overdue! It’s a new year & time for a fresh start with the blog so here goes..
I wanted to show you guys a little glimpse of our home here at the beach in hopes it would inspire some, help some and entertain some ;)
It’s definitely a work in progress and most rooms haven’t been completed yet, but LIFE IS CRAZY and sometimes your own house is the last thing on the list at the end of the month. So, with that said, here’s a tiny tour of a few rooms in our home that we love and live in -
(I secretly want to include in this blog the projects we do in the future and some of the small remodels but let’s be honest, that’s going to take lots of motivation to even compete them, let alone blog about them! But hey, crazier things have happened). For now, I will briefly touch on the things we still want to do and show you just what all we have done :)
Come on it! (but this is usually where you can find us.. rocking on the front porch until the sun sets)
We went with color on the sofa (instead of a neutral) to add a little character to the very ‘light and bright’ living area! I love this color because it was kind of our ground for the living area and into the dining/kitchen area - We pulled most of our accent colors off our favorite throw pillows (shown below) on the armchair! I loved this print since before we moved into the house. They were actually purchased while we were stilt at our rental house here in Wilmington! So, I pulled some of the greens/blues, light pink and browns from this floral print!
I love that this space feels classic and sleek but also comfortable and fun for our toddler to ride her scooter around in ;)
One of my favorite pieces of art was recently hung over this little console in our living room! If you’ve been to our house in the past year or so, you’ve seen a huge painting of a swan over this piece of furniture (still not sure about that one..) but I found this fiddle leaf fig painting and couldn’t pass it up! I still intend to flank it with some type of sconce or smaller piece of art on either side, but for now.. I just love it! As for the swan.. I may ATTEMPT to paint over it and create an abstract painting if I can find enough motivation .. stay tuned! Eeeek!
Next up.. our kitchen area.. there are still a few things we need to do in this space, but I’m obsessed with our rug (we got this as soon as we moved in!), we switched out the pendant lights and changed the backsplash! We also added little things like window treatments (you can’t go wrong with a bamboo shade, amiright?), paint color and barstools!
Who doesn’t love a good cutting board, used a decor more than you do for actually food prep or serving!? Umm me.. (hand raising)
A room in our house that has constantly evolved and HAS YET to be completed is our front room/office space//study - so here’s a little peak from outside of the room looking into the living area..
Our plan is to do built-ins in this space and create an area for work and also lounging (for kevin and I).
We hope to have that completed in the next few months so I’ll be sure to share when we do!
Our master bedroom has been such a process - we have done so much to this room but we aren’t quite yet complete with it! We added the paneling on the wall, painted the room a beautiful neutral, added crown molding (this is a lot bigger project than you would think!), installed wall sconces, painted the ceiling a pretty little green, hung our custom curtains (I’m obsessed with this color!), broke down and got new nightstands recently (all the praise hands!), and a few other little things.. but conquering the master bathroom that is off of this space is our next project (I consider it the same room as the bedroom) haha -
Oh! And I can’t forget the paint color on the doors - we decided to paint all of our interior doors Peppercorn and I’m in love! Kevin was hesitant at first but finally got on the bandwagon - and by bandwagon, I mean my own crazy decisions :)
Next up, the guest bedroom, Piper’s sweet little room & her playroom! (If you’re still reading this, you deserve a pat on the back! Because I don’t blog much but when I do, it’s hard for me to quit).. I promise the tour is almost done!
We kept Piper’s room the exact same from our first house in Charlotte! How can you redo your little one’s nursery when you move 4 hours away while she’s just months old?! Not me! That was one thing that I held onto and didn’t want to change! So, we even came in and put up the same chair-rail and paneling, paint color and decor! Nothing changed!
Her playroom has been so fun to work on! We are almost done with it and I’m so happy with how it has turned out! We got this custom carpet cut for this space and it was perfect! It’s great for high traffic and lots of toys and little feet! There are so many special piece and toys in this room it makes my heart melt overtime we step into it. Lots of precious things given from my Mom that we will treasure forever! Her teepee was her Christmas present from ‘Mawmaw’ on her first Christmas & the big TY Bear was mine when I was a little girl! I could go on and on and on about the items in this space, but for now, I’ll sum it up in a few pretty pics! ;)
Kevin built Piper’s floating shelves one weekend, and they’re imperfectly PERFECT.
Of course I want to end this little tour with a giraffe. Because what better way? This was my mom’s absolute favorite animal and it means everything to have so much of her dispersed throughout our home here on the coast. I hope it was fun to take a little peak inside our home - its not perfect but it’s becoming more and more perfect FOR US.
That’s exactly what your home should be.. perfect FOR YOU. I can’t wait to see where this year takes us as a business and as a family! Please let us know your favorite parts and if you’d like to see more projects and process as we go! :)
Cheers to a new year, y’all!
